If you reside in a place such as we do in Western New York (we're in Rochester!) With beautifully warm summers and cold snowy winters, you'll know your options for your kid's birthday celebration are mostly dependent on the weather.
As an August baby, we constantly had small family parties out at my house. But, together with sons born in November and March, we're always left to reserve an indoor place for their parties, if we decided to have them that season. While those with children with summer birthdays may seem lucky to have so many options at their disposal, it can also often feel overwhelming.
While in Climbing Vines Cafe and Play we may be biased since we host indoor parties, I wanted to share with all the 5 most common reasons we hear from past party customers to book indoor summer evenings with us. To them, the stress-free temperament of the indoor summertime celebration is really a no-brainer, and they are not looking back! After their first indoor summer celebration , they keep hosting with us year after year.


1) NO WEATHER WORRIES


The most common cause for a client to reserve a summer indoor celebration with us is so they don't need to stalk the weather forecast for updates in the weeks leading up to the celebration. Nothing can derail a pleasure celebration quicker than having to cram all of your guests inside your home, waiting for a storm to pass. And if you've ever needed to cancel or postpone your kid's birthday because of weather, then you realize how heartbreaking that can be.
We get dozens of calls every summer a few days before someone's outdoor celebration is supposed to happen to see if we've got an open slot for them in our indoor celebration place due to weather woes. We can usually pull off this if the place remains open, but hosts will unfortunately have to scramble and let all their guests know of the change in place and probably shift in time, and change all of their catering requests to accommodate their new party plan.
While of course rain is most probably the largest obstacle you may face, extreme heat, unseasonably cool weather, and end may also pose problems for your food, decorations, and your guests' possessions. You'll likely find yourself investing in a tent another weather barrier simply to ease your mind a bit, which are costly and require lots of precious time to prepare and take down. I will not even tell the story of this time my Dad set a tent up for a celebration in a windstorm and ended up with a insurance claim for 4 ruined cars when it blew away (weights and anchors and all!) ...

Besides the obvious weather worries you can avoid with an indoor party, there may also just be something really simple and lovely about a indoor summer party. Sometimes it's wonderful to have a brief break from the outdoors, sip coffee in an air-conditioned cafe, and have an actual conversation with other adults while the kids play, rather than chasing children around attempting to get their fur on them or keeping them away from the in-ground pool. I'm not sure about you, but I can never really relax at an outdoor summer birthday celebration with a 2 and a 4 year-old. While they sure do have a fantastic time running around, we usually leave at a daze or with a tantrum, unsure whether we had the time to talk or check in with everyone.
While I absolutely adore a good barbecue or summer grilling extravaganza, I find it refreshing when we can take a rest from the same-old backyard celebration and spend a few hours at a relaxing, cool, and most importantly-- included! -- air.
It's also freeing as a guest to have the rest of the day to do as we want as a family and not need to be concerned about getting the children to a tub right after the celebration or quitting home to cool off and change clothes.
I guarantee that if you reserve an indoor party for your son or daughter, guests (particularly family) may appear a bit confused at first (why not just take advantage of the summer weather while we could, right?) But after hosting hundreds of indoor parties I will tell you for sure that on the day-of, you and your visitors will realize how pleasant it can be to reunite within an air-conditioned private party for a few hours.

3) EATING IN PEACE


Speaking of how relaxing a indoor, air-conditioned celebration could be, can we talk about food for a moment?
At the moment, my sweet 4 year old boy is terrified of bees, and also the fastest way to send him into a tailspin would be for him to sit down to eat a cupcake or his meal and also have bees swarming around. Therefore, for our loved ones, the food factor alone would be sufficient to justify an indoor celebration.

While party aesthetic may not be a determining factor for every family, it sure is significantly easier to make a themed extravaganza that lights a youngster's face up as soon as the party's indoors. The decorations required tend to be less because the place is smaller and contained contained, and you won't need to be concerned about balloons and streamers blowing about or procuring table covers down.
Because we do host mobile events outside in Climbing Vines Cafe and Play, I can also speak from experience when I say the time that it takes to set up (and take down!) Decorations for an outdoor celebration compared to a indoor celebration usually ends up being double. Finding good places to hang banners, needing two people to maintain and secure everything, and locating weights or other restraints for everything can be a genuine hassle on party day.

With all the"extras" like tents, chair rentals, additional decorations, weather reinforcements, clean-up provides, games and activities for the children (which you won't have to supply at a play place!) I'm not sure how other indoor spaces manage their supplies, but we only charge guests for additional beverages and provides and these on the day of the celebration should they wind up needing themand we also enable parties to attract in their OWN meals, dessert, and decoration should they choose!
Money aside, spending countless hours cleaning prior to, during, and following the celebration may also take a toll. Wouldn't it be nice to walk into a sparkling clean space and depart with your guests once the party's over, not needing to be concerned about the cleanup, garbage removal, tent teardown, etc?
It's possible to just head home and relax with your loved ones (yes, maybe outside!) In a nice clean house that was not just trampled by party guests and all of their mud, grass, and sunscreen.
Along with the time spent cleaning prior to and after the celebration, wouldn't it ALSO be nice to not have to play"host" during the event? For customers that bring in their own food and decoration, our committed party assistants set up everything, refill and fix food and beverages as needed, clear dishes, cut and serve the cake, and then package up all of the leftovers at the end of the party!
